Biography

Pastor Josh Howerton was born in Texas, USA, into a Christian family. His grandfather was a Baptist minister, and his father was also a pastor.

Although he grew up in a Christian environment, he did not commit his life to Christ until he was 16. His youth pastor invited him to preach for the first time, marking his first preaching experience.

Today, Pastor Howerton is the senior pastor of LakePointe Church. He is passionate about making disciples, training leaders, and planting churches through the Strategic Launch Network.

LakePointe’s church planting network has started and continues to support over 40 churches in mainly secular cities across the United States.

Josh is the Senior Pastor of LakePointe Church, a multisite and multilingual church with six campuses in Dallas, TX. Before joining LakePointe, he was the senior pastor of The Bridge Church for ten years. Steve Stroope, who was then the senior pastor of LakePointe, was Josh’s mentor and became his spiritual father.

In 2018, Steve asked Josh to become the senior pastor of LakePointe Church. Josh and his wife initially declined the offer because they were settled at their church.

Steve knew Josh was passionate about church planting, especially in urban areas, and continued to invite him. Josh visited LakePointe to learn about their church planting strategies, and this visit stirred something in him. Josh felt that God was calling him to use his life for the greatest kingdom impact.

After several supernatural experiences, Josh and his wife decided to accept LakePointe’s invitation and leave The Bridge.

In February 2019, Josh and his family moved to LakePointe. He co-pastored with Steve for one year before becoming the senior pastor in February 2020.

Books

Josh is also an author and has co-authored a Bible study guide. The book is called The Truth: Engaging the Foundations of the Faith. It helps disciples answer the question, “What does a disciple believe?” The guide uses teaching, questions, conversation, exercises, and individual study to support transformational discipleship.

He co-authored this book with Craig Etheredge. Josh has also co-authored other books, including:
