Tye has a brother, Thaddaeus, who played bass in the band Soundcheck and is now the bassist for the singer Estelle. Two of his sisters, DeShantel Tribbett-Robinson and DeMaris Tribbett-Toy, are also singers. They sang with the group Greater Anointing.

Pastor Tye Tribbett released his first solo album in 2010, called Fresh, which went to number one on the charts.
