Before her husband, Felix, received a call from God to enter the ministry, the family settled in Ibadan after their marriage. It took three years for him to convince Funke of his call to start a ministry in Ondo State. Eventually, they moved there.

On August 12, 1989, Funke and Felix were ordained as Ministers of God in Ondo State, Nigeria.

Initially, they started a small fellowship with four people in their living room. As their numbers grew, they moved to a new location. The church officially opened on August 7, 1988, at Victory Nursery School in Akure.

Today, Agape Christian Ministries is one of the well-known churches in Nigeria, with branches in over 30 locations across the country.
